Karl-Werner Hansmann

Ph.D., Dr., Professor, Founder of the Institute of Industrial Management, Director of the Seminar of Industrial Management and Organization, University of Hamburg, Germany.

Prof. Dr. Karl-Werner Hansmann studied economics and management in Marburg and Hamburg and graduated to PhD at the university of Hamburg in 1972. After completing his habilitation in 1977 he became associated professor at the university of Ham-burg and was appointed full professor of management (especially industrial management) at the university of the German Armed Forces Hamburg in 1980.

He established the Institute of Industrial Management in close connection with firms and was elected Vicepresident of the university in 1985 (two terms till 1989). In 1993 he succeeded Professor Jacob as director of the Seminar of Industrial Management and Organization at the University of Hamburg.

In six books and more than 50 essays Hansmann has dealt with scientific and practical problems of production planning and control an economic forecasting. In addition to research and teaching Hansmann serves as a management consultant for leading industrial companies.
