Qimei Chen is the Shidler Distinguished Professor and Professor of Marketing, and the Chair of the Marketing Department in the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and an advisory professor at Fudan University, Shanghai, China. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and prior to that, she has years of industrial experience in China, Germany and Hong Kong. Her current research interests include advertising effectiveness, online/offline healthcare marketing, and innovation/knowledge. Her research has been published in journals such as Journal of Advertising, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of Retailing, and Journal of Healthcare Communication. In the recent issue of Journal of Advertising (Fall 2006 and again in Spring 2008), Chen was ranked as the No. 2 most cited/influential contributor in Internet-related research in advertising journals surveyed, and No. 9 in eleven leading journals in marketing, advertising and communications combined.
In 2000, Chen was selected to receive the Joseph M. Juran Fellowship Award for her early achievement of academic excellency from the Juran Center for Leadership in Quality. She also received CIBER (Center for International Business Education and Research) research grants in 2001-2005, MIS (Marketing Science Institute) research award in 2003, UH College of Business Administration Distinguished Research Award in 2005 and Shirley M. Lee Research Award from Shidler College of Business Research Excellence Award in 2007. In 2009, she (together with co-authors Lee, Kim and Johnson) received the S. Tamer Cavusgil Award for their paper published in Journal of International Marketing during 2008 making the greatest contribution to marketing practice.
