Stanislav Poloucek
Professor of Finance and Banking, Head of the Department of Finance and Head of the Institute of Doctoral Studies at Silesian University, School of Business Administration in Karviná, Czech Republic
Stanislav Polouček is Professor of Finance and Banking, Head of the Department of Finance and Head of the Institute of Doctoral Studies at Silesian University, School of Business Administration in Karviná. He recieved M.A. from Palacký University in Olomouc (1972) and from Charles University in Prague (1978). He finished Ph.D. studies at Charles University in Prague (1980). In 1988 he was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship and he stayed at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts in the U.S.A. He has wide teaching experience of regular finance courses in the Czech Republic, Finland, Poland, Slovakia and Turkey and in lectureships in other foreign universities.
His research activity is focused on banking, restructuring of banking sector in transition countries, competition and concentration in banking sector, mergers and acquisitions, as well as on a monetary theory, the international monetary relations, including the place of small countries in the world economy. Professor Polouček is a Professional Guarantor, Head of the Program Committee, and Editor of the proceedings of a yearly finance and banking conference "Future of the Banking after the Year 2000 in the World and in the Czech Republic", which since 1996 takes place at the School of Business Administration of Silesian University (www.opf.slu.cz/pb2000).
