Gabriele Morello, an Italian national, is Professor of Business Statistics in the Faculty of Economics, University of Palermo, and Professor Emeritus of Marketing in the Faculty of Economics and Econometrics, Free University of Amsterdam, where he was responsible for the Marketing and Marketing Research courses held from 1980 to 1993. He is the founder of ISIDA, where he is still the Director. ISIDA is the oldest business school in Italy and one of the most renowned European management development centres. Prof. Morello is also Chairman of GMA, a company that provides marketing management and research services on a world-wide basis.

He holds degrees in Law and in Economics, as well as diplomas in Statistics and in Psychology. His post-graduate studies - including a Master in Economics and a libera docenza (PhD) in Marketing -were completed in Italy, at Balliol College Oxford, and at Stanford University, USA.

Prof. Morello has lectured, conducted research and provided consultancy on economic development, marketing (both marketing management and marketing research) and management development in all European countries, in the USA, in the ex-Soviet Union, in most Latin American countries, in the Middle East, India, Hong Kong, Algeria, South Africa, Japan and Australia. Such activities were performed for private and public companies, both national and multinational, and for governments and international organizations, including the UN and OECD. In 1996 he held the position of Audience Research Auditor for the BBC World Service located in London. This implied controlling the research activities conducted by IBAR (International Broadcasting Audience Research), and by research agencies in 135 countries all over the world.

He has conducted research and organised seminars for many companies, including NMB and Baan in the Netherlands, Olivetti in Italy and in the USA, the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE) in Italy and in their offices abroad, Nissan and Shiseido in Japan, and Nestlé in Australia. He is currently cooperating with the University of Havana for the development of a Master in Business Administration in Cuba.

Prof Morello has served as President of the Italian Marketing Association (AISM), the Italian Association of Business Schools (ASFOR), the European Association of Management Training Centres (EAMTC, now EFMD) and the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR).

In December 2003, he was presented with the ASFOR ‘Career Prize', awarded to the most outstanding Italian personality in management development.

Prof. Morello, who is fluent in 6 languages (Italian, English, French, German, Dutch and Spanish), has published 5 books and 190 papers in scientific and professional journals.
