Graduation and Teaching Activities: Agronomic Engineer by "Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz" - University of São Paulo (1991), Master of Science (1995) and PHD (1999) in Business Policy and Management by FEA/University of São Paulo. Pos-graduated in European Agribusiness & Marketing in France (1995) and in marketing channels and networks in the Netherlands (1998/1999). Since 1995 is Professor of Marketing & Strategy at the Business Department of FEA/University of São Paulo, Campus of Ribeirão Preto, Brazil.

Activities in Private Companies in Strategy and Marketing: Senior researcher of PENSA Agribusiness Program since 1992 where coordinated/participated in projects in strategic management, marketing planning and distribution/sales planning for Orsa (paper and pulp and packaging company), Tigre (irrigation market), Netafim (irrigation market, Israelian multinational), Monsanto (defensives), Batavo (food cooperative), Aurora (food cooperative), Lagoa da Serra/Holland Genetics (genetics), Roche (vitamines) Lloyds Bank (Bank), Algar (agroindustry), Vallée (veterinarian products), Crystalsev (sugar mill joint-venture), Supermercados Big/Real (retail), Arby's (foodservice), Sanavita (food), Boehringer (vet supply), Fundecitrus/Abecitrus (orange juice exporters) and Illycafé (expresso - italian).

Activities in the Public Sector and Foundations: Dean of the Business Department of FEA/University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto (2001-2002). In this period, the Business Course was elected the best in Brazil according to the official Ministry of Education evaluation. Also started in this period the Masters and PHD program in Management extension at Ribeirão Preto. Coordinator of the MBA in Marketing of Fundace (Foundation that supports FEA/USP) and of the MBA in Agribusiness in Company at 4 large agrifood companies in Brazil.

Main Publications: Author/co-author and Organizer of 7 books: "Marketing, Estratégia, Agronegócios e Alimentos (Marketing and Strategy in Food and Agribusiness); "Marketing & Exportação (Marketing & Exports)" e "Marketing na Nova Economia (Marketing in the New Economy)"; "Economia e Gestão de Negócios Agroalimentares (Economy and Management of Agribusiness)"; "Gestão de Negócios em Alimentos (Food Business Management)"; "Estudos de Caso em Agribusiness (Agribusiness Case Studies)" e "Agribusiness Europeu (European Agribusiness)" (Thomson Learning). Has international articles published at the Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing (MCB), Journal of Chain and Network Science, Italian Food & Beverage Technology, Flussiges Obst (German Fruit Processing Journal), Florida Grower, and Marketeer (Marketing Journal of Portugal). Member and publishes since 1998 at European Marketing Academy, IMP (International Marketing and Purchasing Group) since 2001, and, since 1994, at International Food and Agribusiness Management Association - IAMA. Recently joined American Marketing Association. In Brazil has more than 100 articles published at the main journals of strategy, business, marketing and agribusiness.

Atividades Executivas

Associations and Editorial Boards: Member of the Management Board of Holland Genetics in Brazil, member of the Board of the Brazilian Beef Marketing Group and member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, Supply Chain Management and Journal of Chain and Network Science. From 2002 to 2005 will be participating at the Global Food Network, a program of the European Union. Coordinator of the "Brazilian Economy and Management of Networks in Food and Agribusiness" International Congress since 1997.

Conferences/Lectures: Participated in IAMA at Caracas (Venezuela - 1994), Paris (France - 1995), Cancun (Mexico, 1996), Jakarta (Indonesia, 1997), Punta Del Este (Uruguai - 1998), Florence (Italy - 1999), Chicago (USA - 2000) and Wageningen (Netherlands, 2002). Participated in EMAC at Berlin (Germany, 1999), Bergen (Norway, 2001) and Braga (Portugal, 2002). Has done more than 25 lectures in more than 10 countries since 1994 and more than 100 in Brazil at several marketing and agribusiness forums.

Research Areas: Strategy and Marketing in Agribusiness, with emphasis in Marketing Channels Planning and Marketing Planning and Control with a Network Approach in international markets.
