Research Interests
Major research interests include new product development, technology management, global entrepreneurship, marketing strategy, corporate ventures, project management, and innovation management.
Publications appear in the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Marketing, Sloan Management Review, Columbia Journal of World Business, R&D Management, California Management Review, Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Engineering & Technology Management, Research-Technology Management & the Journal of Product Innovation Management.

Professional Interests
He has consulted with a number of organization including Apple computer, IBM, Bell Labs, Bechtel, Corning, Chase Manhattan Bank, Weyerhaeuser, Royal Bank of Canada, Schering-Plough, United Technologies, Schlumberger, NASA, the European Space Agency, Upjohn, Welch-Allyn, ConMed, Ball Aerospace, the World Bank, Management Centre Europe, and Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M). He is on the editorial board of several journals in the areas on innovation management, product development, and entrepreneurship.
He is a co-founder and past president of the Product Development and Management Association. He also co-founded the Innovation Management Program as well as the Entrepreneurship & Emerging Enterprises Program in the Whitman School. He has conducted executive education programs in Europe, Canada, United States, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Mexico, Brazil, and Australia. He is a member of the board of directors of Anaren, Inc.
