Donald Lien has a Ph.D. in economics from California Institute of Technology. He is currently Richard S. Liu Distinguished Chair in Business and Associate Dean for International Affairs at College of Business, UTSA. Previously he has taught at University of Kansas and Washington University at St. Louis. He has been a visiting professor at National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University, Nanyang Technological University and Academia Sinica (Taiwan). In addition, he has provided consulting services to several organizations including World Bank and Kansas Corporation Commissions. Dr. Lien has given seminars at several universities and research institutes in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and the US. He has also provided talks at Shanghai Futures Exchange and Korean Futures Market Association. His main research interests include statistics and econometrics, derivative markets, investment performance evaluation, emerging markets, international finance, and financial planning. He has received numerous teaching and research awards. In 2005, he was ranked top financial researcher by SIRCA based upon the number of papers published in 19 finance journals during the 2001-2005 period.
