In this paper, an investigation is conducted to estimate the effect of economic uncertainty on volume volatility, focusing on four systemic Greek banking institutions, including (i) Alpha Bank, (ii) Eurobank, (iii) National Bank of Greece, and (iv) Piraeus Bank. The purpose of this study is to explain in detail if the EPU is linked with volume volatility in the largest banking institutions in Greece. For the analysis of this paper, data used are monthly data of volume to explain the economic uncertainty on volume volatility. The analysis period covers the period from January 2001 to August 2018, incorporating various market phases, such as the global financial crisis of 2008, the European debt crisis, and capital controls in the Greek economy. The methodology used for the research is the well-known GARCH model. Based on the estimated regressions, the present research findings showed that economic uncertainty has various effects on the volume volatility of the four systemic Greek banking institutions. More specifically, when economic uncertainty receives a high value, then the volatility of the volume in Greek banking institutions increases, receiving a higher value. In conclusion, it is observed that economic uncertainty positively affects the volume volatility of the Greek banking system.

Mobilization of savings and funding the profitable business opportunities are essential in improving the efficiency of intermediation. The study aims to evaluate the effects of nationalization and privatization on Indian banks. Various factors have been considered to examine the effects of privatization and nationalization, including sources of public sector inefficiency, measures of firm performance, econometric issues, and the mode of privatization. The data was collected for the period of 1998 to 2016 from Indian banks. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was used to evaluate the financial reports of the banks selected to evaluate the efficiency of input and output variables. Positive results were observed, concerning the efficiency and profitability of banking industry after banks’ privatization. Performance of private banks has been observed effective and efficient as compared to the public sector banks. Privatization of banks must be increased and maintained to sustain the efficiency of the banks and implement strategies to maintain the assets. Future studies may recruit more appropriate sample size to evaluate the privatization and nationalization effects of Indian banking industry. Greater number of banks will provide more precise results, using data envelopment analysis.

Investment Management and Financial Innovations Volume 18, 2021 Issue #3 pp. 16-26 Views: 2598 Downloads: 1503 TO CITE АНОТАЦІЯThe purpose of the paper is to select the right market proxy for calculating the expected return, since critically evaluating proxies or selecting the correct proxy market portfolio is essential for portfolio management because the change in the market portfolio proxy affects returns. In this study, monthly data of equity indices are evaluated to find out the better market proxy. The indices taken are BSE 30 (Sensex), Nifty 50, BSE 100, BSE 200, and BSE 500. The macroeconomic variables used in the study are industrial production index (IIP), consumer price index (CPI), money supply (M1), and exchange rate in India. To avoid the influence of COVID-19, the research period was from January 2013 to December 2019 to critically evaluate these proxies in order to find the most appropriate market proxy. This paper reveals a noteworthy relationship between stock market returns and macroeconomic factors, while suggesting that the BSE 500 is a better choice for all equity indices, as the index also shows a significant relationship with all macroeconomic variables. BSE500 is a composite index comprising all sectors with low, mid and large cap securities, therefore it reflects the impact of macroeconomic factors most efficiently, taking it as a market proxy. This study was carried out in the context of India and can be replicated for other countries.

ERP implementation in banks: success factors & impact on financial performance
Banks and Bank Systems Volume 12, 2017 Issue #4 pp. 17-30 Views: 2444 Downloads: 1061 TO CITE АНОТАЦІЯThe study aims to measure the extent of implementing ERP systems in the banking sector in Jordan, and identify the main factors that influence the implementation decision, in addition to measure the impact of the post-implementation of the ERP system on the financial performance. The study utilized a content analysis as a research instrument. The study of population consisted of all the banks in Jordan, where the study applied ‘Purposive Sample’ type. Therefore, the study included 11 banks from 2011 to 2016.
The study indicated that the implementation year of the ERP system started in most of the Jordanian banks in 2013, and the rates vary from bank to bank according to their importance and the level of awareness. Training courses are considered the main variable that these banks face in the process of implementation. In addition, awareness of the advantages, the cost, and supporting the infrastructure are the core factors needed to influence the implementation decision.
There is no impact when implementing an ERP system on the financial performance of the Jordanian banks in regard to the ROI and the DPS; on the other hand, there is an impact of the ERP system on the overall performance of the banks.
The study recommends to disseminate knowledge on the advantages of implementing of ERP system in Jordanian banks and to develop the IT department efficiency. Moreover, it will be worthwhile to examine the effect of ERP systems by utilizing financial and non-financial measurements.
